D.E.A.R. ~ Drop Everything And Read is a form of school-based recreational reading where students read silently in a designated time period every day in school. Students to select their own books and require neither testing for comprehension nor book reports.The choice of reading materials are books, magazines, and newspapers.

Book Awards
Rebecca Caudill Young Readers Award Developed to encourage children and young adults to read for personal satisfaction. It is an Illinois award for outstanding literature for young people
Monarch Award The Monarch is designed to encourage children to read critically and become familiar with children's books, authors and illustrators. The program is open to all K-3 age children in Illinois.
Abraham Lincoln Award The Abraham Lincoln Award is awarded annually to the author of the book voted as most outstanding by participating students in grades nine through twelve in Illinois.
Read For A Lifetime promote the enjoyment of reading, by encouraging students to read both classic and contemporary literature, and rewarding them for their effort.
